Holter and event monitors are used when symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, or fainting occur infrequently, and a regular heart test, such as an EKG or ECG, is normal. The monitors record the electrical activity of your heart over time.
Holter and event monitors are small, portable devices you wear on your body to record your heart’s electrical activity over a longer period.
Holter and event monitors are used to diagnose:
You will wear the device on your chest or around your belt. The patient records symptoms in a diary or presses a button during an episode (event monitor). After the monitoring period, the monitor is returned to your doctor, who will interpret the data and determine the cause of your symptoms.
Holter and event monitoring are part of the comprehensive cardiovascular services we offer at IVY Cardiovascular & Vein Center. Call (561) 210-9495 for more information or to schedule your monitoring appointment.
